Quilts by Catherine Custom Handmade Quilts from Minnesota

For the past 15 years I worked as a Registered Nurse for a local area hospital. I have been married to the same man for almost 40 years, and we have two daughters and two grandchildren (and two sons-in-law). My husband and I enjoy boating, and during the summer months, you can often find both of us cruising the Mississippi on our yacht, Family Affair. Our oldest daughter and son-in-law share the boat with us, and occasionally, our two grandchildren join us on an extended cruise.

Several years ago, I became interested in quilting, mostly as something to do while at home. This interest grew over the years, and now it occupies a significant amount of my time when I'm not serving as a nurse. I also am part of a quilting group at our church, and from time to time, you may find quilts on my site from one or more of my church quilting friends. This association has been a wonderful diversion, and as a result, our group made several quilts that were donated for various causes. These quilts often raise several hundred dollars each when offered at auction.

Our cruising expeditions also offered me a new opportunity when visiting small towns in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa located along the mighty Mississippi. You'd be surprised at the many varied fabrics I find in some of these small river towns. Some of them actually have one or more major quilting centers, and I look forward to each new visit when I can select from some of the most interesting fabrics, often in very limited quantities. Of course, this never discourages me as my quilts are always one-of-a-kind, so I usually only need enough fabric for one unique, special quilt.
